Design / Vibe / Vision
We wanted an intimate dinner party vibe that was elegant, timeless and most importantly fun. We put a lot of emphasis on keeping the vibe intimate – so keeping the guest list small but mighty was really important to us. For photography, we wanted someone who we knew could capture the little moments as well as the big from wedding day/weekend and Liz was the perfect fit. We are over the moon obsessed with our finished images. Liz over delivered on quality and quantity of photos, I feel like every little detail, moment, and overall vibe from our weekend was captured beautifully and fully.
Proposal Story
We met on Hinge in New York City in August 2021. I had just come off a dating hiatus, and Anthony was the very first date I went on when I got back on the app. I told him I wasn't looking to date anyone seriously yet, to which he replied, "Go on as many dates as you want, you'll come back. I'm not worried." I don't think I went on a single other date after that! We dated for a little over three years before getting engaged in December 2024. We had moved into my tiny West Village apartment together earlier that year, so I knew a proposal was coming, just not exactly sure when. And when the engagement came, I was completely caught off guard. Anthony flew home to San Antonio to spend Christmas with my family, and he had me convinced it wasn't happening over the holidays. We'd already been home for a few days when on the day before Christmas Eve we headed to lunch at a local French restaurant, Fredericks -- what I thought was simply a nuclear family Christmas celebration before the extended family festivities. I was in a ponytail, minimal makeup, nails undone... despite my family's best efforts to get me dressed up for the moment. On the way to the restaurant, I actually turned to Anthony and told him we needed to have a serious conversation when we got back to New York about timelines, convinced we were on different pages. Then, as we were leaving, I got a strange feeling and asked him if we were getting engaged, which he shut down immediately, saying "Caroline, please, can we just enjoy the holidays without the pestering? I'm working on it, okay!" I felt terrible and tried to lighten the mood by putting on Frank Sinatra for the drive home. When we got back, my younger sister, a photographer, had slipped out of lunch early to "help a client." What I didn't know was that she had stayed behind at the house to capture what was about to happen. Anthony asked me to come outside to help get the fire going and put on some music. I turned Frank Sinatra back on and made him dance with me. Then, mid-song, he started telling me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life making me giggle and dance. I just thought he was being sweet until he pulled back and had tears in his eyes as he grabbed a ring box that had been hidden in a drawer. He got down on one knee and I just kept saying "no no no there's no way, what is happening!" I just remember him saying "Please stop saying no and say yes!" It was the most perfect day. My childhood home has always meant the world to me - that patio was the backdrop to so many holidays, summers, and ordinary evenings that somehow became my favorite memories. The fact that it happened there, just months before my parents sold the house, felt like the most beautiful bow on a lifetime of memories. I'll be grateful for that timing forever.
