Food & Drink
Even though guests felt like they had escaped somewhere in Europe, I wanted the food to feel nostalgic—like we had come back home. Which we had. We served California comfort food with roast chicken, potato gratin, fresh lemon salad, a short rib carving station, and watermelon surprises. It was familiar and comforting. For us, coming back home from Europe to all of our friends and family, we wanted to pull in the best of both our worlds: warm, comforting flavors and spirits in the setting of our new world. Every drink needed to be a splash of California—floating florals, coastal colors, and glassware that looked like it belonged in someone’s home. Nothing ordinary or classic, but enchanting and unexpected.
Florals & Decor
The florals were one of my favorite surprises. I wanted petals I’d never seen before and bouquets that made people stop and look twice, just to make sure they were seeing them for all they were. Colorful, quirky, full of movement, and never restrained by tradition. The décor was designed to leave people feeling warm, upbeat, and excited for what was coming next. Every destination across the property revealed another experience, building anticipation all the way to the finale—a disco barn after-party complete with a DJ, custom ice luge, and a dance floor that stayed packed until we were forced to say goodnight. We wanted to capture the dreaminess of Carmel with the romance and ethereal beauty of what lies across the pond.
Wedding Cake
Our cake brought us back to Europe. We chose a Millefoglie, a traditional dessert from France and Italy—two places that hold such special memories for us after spending time living there together. Layers of flaky puff pastry, vanilla pastry cream, fresh berries, and powdered sugar came together in the most beautiful way. Decorating it in front of our guests to some of our favorite songs quickly became an event in its own right.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
I walked down the aisle to “Orbiter” by Noah Kahan. We chose the song because our four-month-old daughter, Wren, was truly the heartbeat of our ceremony. She is the moon in our lives, and we genuinely feel like our world orbits her. Noah wrote the song about his mother—how she is his light in the evening sky, always with him, always watching over him. The meaning immediately resonated with us because it’s exactly how Gunner and I already feel about our new and perfect baby, Wren.
Special Detail #1
The night before the wedding, we hosted a western-inspired rehearsal dinner where I surprised everyone by wearing a vibrant green gown. It was my way of honoring my maiden name, Greene, and celebrating the final evening before becoming a Robinson. It felt like the perfect sendoff to one chapter before beginning the next.
Special Detail #2
We wanted to bring one of our favorite memories from living in Europe to our California castle for the weekend. Watching everyone gather around for gelato throughout the evening made it feel like a little slice of Italy had found its way into our celebration—a taste of something that Gunner and I searched for throughout our travels. Gelato became our destination each month. It was debated over, tasted and tested, and became our little second moment that no one else knew was so special to us.
Special Detail #3
Our daughter, Wren, made her special appearance down the aisle, giving so many of our family and friends the chance to meet her for the very first time. Ending the night dancing under the lights while pouring espresso martinis down our custom ice luge felt like the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of our next adventure together as a family.
